At this time of year, my money would be on solitary bees.

Yes, bee, if you wait for a while on a warm sunny day you will see them coming and going, most of the ones I've seen are quite small, fly sized.

Definitely mining bees - they're absolutely gorgeous and totally harmless. I have some in my garden and I love seeing the little volcanoes appear each spring smile
