Anyone had any experience with using dog buddy to find a dog sitting home or any recommendations if similar resources to find somewhere?

Monty won't be coming on holiday with us this year so I need to find somewhere for him to go - I want to find someone who'll have him in their home and basically treat him as a pet rather than in kennels which I really don't think he'll like.

No friends or family can help so I need a way of finding a trusted stranger.

There are plenty of these services about, I have used several over the years. Whereabouts in the UK are you? I could probably find you one in Kent. Otherwise, try your vet, or local FB pages.

Ask your Vet/ Put up a poster in the Vets

There might be an older person not wanting the costs/commitment of a dog due to their age, that misses having one. Your Vets would possibly know

My friend regularly has dogs stay with her, she's a PHr, but she's in Northants which might be too far?

You have a PM. We use a dog sitter and have nothing but good things to say about her. We have a greyhound and they are quite used to kennels, but we would have to be fairly desperate to send ours back to kennels.

Thus did come up in the google searches but anything that I have to sign up to before figuring out whether it's for me or not is a pain and therefore I didn't.

Have you used it?

Note as I have a franchise I am biased but you should look at Barking Mad, www.barkingmad.uk.com we are the market leaders and currently have the best feedback rating on Trustpilot for pet services.

OP I don't know where you're based - but my friend runs this place and it's where mine have gone for years:

http://www.tothemanorbourne.com/website/Welcome.ht...

Can't recommend her highly enough. She has clients who live all over the UK, who take their dogs to her before they go on hols.

And is the reason I got into Vizslas smile

I'm a house sitter and I know of a few local people that offer dog walking and boarding services. They advertise in the local paper, on village notice boards and local websites.
You could google for 'dog boarding' in your area that should give a few local to you or ask fellow dog walkers if they could recommend someone.

SPR2 - Thanks, I've responded to your mail

P700DEE - I had a quick look but the website seems to suggest that Cumbria is my local branch

tomw2000 - that looks amazing (and Monty is a Vizsla !!). I've dropped them a mail - my wallet is nervously hiding under the sofa though as its looks expensive!!

Condor - yeah I've done most of those things without a great deal of luck but I'll keep trying

Hi I would recommend Dawn as she looks after the dogs in her own house as part of the family. My 2 Huskies love it there and would not use anybody else.
Linky below, good luck

Just to update - thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.

I've had a great recommendation and Monty has been for a trial run this weekend to ensure both sides were happy (a sleepover as the kids called it).

All is well so I have somewhere that Monty will be happy and looked after in the summer.

Once I got him home, he had his dinner and simply crashed on his bed snoring for 12 hours so he must have enjoyed himself!!
