My dogs had a stroke.
Discussion
My dear departed GSD had several "vestibular" incidents, which the vet told us was broadly equivalent to a human stroke. She recovered from 4 or 5 of these. Usually, she acted as if she was very drunk for 30-45 mins, then she slept for a good few hours, and afterwards she was ravenous and right as rain, as if nothing had happened. The vet said he'd known dogs have 12 or more of these and survive. Duffy had a final one which seemed to affect her more and that was when we lost her.
Hopefully yours will bounce back from this one and be fine.

Our springer had a stroke 2 years ago and was as you describe , a week later she was back up on her feet a bit wobbly but she could get about.
She had her 2nd stroke 6 months later aged 14 and it was the same again yet apart from she was a bit more wobbly a week later, she could still get around the house and go to the toilet in the garden fine.
In march she had her 3rd stroke aged 16 and didn't recover from this one , her back legs went and a week later we had to make a decision.
They do bounce back amazingly well although our dogs sense of taste changed and she no longer ate dog food she just had what we have ( or she might of just been taking the piss and we fell for it )
Fingers crossed for your dog.

Good luck to you and your dog.
My old girl had a stroke and recovered to the point that the only sign was she walked with her head tilted to one side. That and she developed a fondness for being carried up to bed long after she was fully capable of managing the stairs for herself again.
She managed another 3 years or so.

Sadly I have to announce that Louis passed away today.
He sat on my lap and had a cuddle this morning while I court up with some football.
Later we left for the shops, leaving our daughter in charge.
She let the two dogs out while she made a brew and when she returned, found him slumped on the step.
He had obviously as there were only reflex movements and no breathing.
The Vet had previously been impressed with his fitness for a 12 year old CK Spaniel.
He will be missed but we have many great and funny memories of Louis and his partner Nel who passed away last year.
Thanks for all your previous best wishes.
Tony
