One man and someone else's dog
Discussion
Having looked back at my photobucket account, I have some pictures of one of my friends dogs from a few years back, my friend unfortunately couldn't attempt such a brave trek due to his... incapacity, he has now moved and is able to take Patrick (plus the 3 other dogs he has, and his M in L's dog) down to the beach on his mobility scooter
So this is going back about 4 years, Patrick is 10 now and still enjoys his walks out, this is me and Patrick going on a nice walk around Dovestone's Resevoir on the edge of the Peak District, near Greenfield, Manchester.
First things first, a picture of Patrick and Myself, not on the day in question but on another little walk around the reservoir, he is a good looking boy with lots of enthusiasm, loves his walks but is a little confused to what a growl is as he growls at you when he is happy... don't ask.
Introductions out of the way, and off to Dovestones.
Its a beautiful spot to take your dog, Chew road leading to the top reservoir is a bit of a hike, the gradient knackers you out, it does't look THAT steep but it goes on for miles.
So having packed a nice lunch with some energy bars, several sandwiches, lots of water for me and Patrick and his bowel, got some nice warm clothing on and a back pack with waterproofs etc, off we went!.
Dovestones from above.
The first part of this epic journey (it was only about 7 or 8 miles), is going up Chew road, it looks like nothing to start with, but I am an old(ish) fart so I don't travel at silly speeds.
Looking back from Chew road to Dovestones.
And a bit further on.
And looking up towards Chew reservoir.
Patrick was always at the front, having a good explore, I needed to tire him out and to be honest, even though he is lovely, he isn't the brightest lightbulb in the shop
Getting him to run up slopes was not a problem!
Dovestones was looking further and further away by now, and it still didn't seem to be any closer to Chew reservoir...
Not that Patrick minded!
I think I did though!!
Some of the scenery was quite nice though, including this old quarry.
Oh god, are we near the top?!
A quick look back.
But on the top at last
Looks a bit dry up there...
But what a view
Errrrm, is there something missing here?!
Oh, what is that in the distance??
Found you Patrick
Great views again
But its getting towards lunch time and I have some sandwiches to eat...
Oh is that food?
Hmm all gone then? why didn't you bring more food, i've walked miles!
Best go see if there is anything else to eat around here.
Think that's all my sandwiches Pat
Salmon paste butties, gone in 60 seconds (or less!!!)
He did like the view though
Time to head back
Pat
rick is still about, but boy he needs a bath after this!
All down hill from here
I can still see you Patrick
Not far now (im feeling a bit knackered, no idea how Patrick feels but hes having fun anyway )
Yes, we were up there having lunch!
One last look back and off to the car
I think Patrick did about 20 miles, I had the poor fella running up and down those hills and he was very good, just call him and he is back with you I think he deserved most of my sandwiches, but now he prefers the strolls down the beach in Wales as its a little less strenous
Not saying that he doesn't still like a trip around the Great Orm though
