Its a bit of a sad story to start with, I had been thinking of getting another dog as Lucky was getting older but
still fairly active, even with her issues (Addisons), so I had been thinking of getting something similar to her
breed (though one can only guess what she was fully as she was a rescue and we had her as a family dog from the
age of around 5-6 months old).

Personally I think she was a bit of a snorkie (miniature schnauzer/yorkie cross), decide for yourself, but she
was a lovely dog after she eventually settled down smile

Unfortunately a bout of acute pancreatitis put an end to her, even though we got it treated quickly, she had
complications and started having fits frown
In the end she died (pts) on October 30th and it left me feeling totally gutted.

The house felt empty, no patter of paws or barking, no Lucky wanting to go to bed and curl up on the bottom of
that bed, it didn't feel right, so full of guilt, I started looking for another 4 legged companion, which would
also keep my elderly mother on her toes.

Both my sister and mother were against getting another dog, well for my mother it lasted about 5 days as she started
to really miss the companionship that Lucky (bossy as she was) gave her.
I already knew what breed I wanted, a Miniature Schnauzer, a good person dog that didn't need to do 10 mile hikes
to keep them happy (not saying she won't be doing 10 mile hikes but she doesn't require that much exercise, a nice
3-4 miles will suffice smile ).

So my first call was for a real cute little girl in the Midlands, unfortunately they had someone coming to see her
on the monday (it was thursday), and that really wasnt viable for me, so the hunt continued and I found a local
breeder who was literally 5-6 miles down the road.
I gave them a call on Friday and they had a litter of 6, 4 boys (all reserved but I wanted a girl) and 2 girls, also
had someone coming to see them on Monday.

I asked if the Sunday was a good day to turn up, though I had a Remembrance Sunday Parade to attend first, so at around
2:30ish pm I was about to meet my new adorable little girl smile

Now, this is MY first dog, as in paid for, insured etc, its not my first dog, she is my 4th but 3 were "family" dogs
so I see it differently, it was up to me to find the right one, as it turned out....

It was a definate chosen by rather than choose, out of the 2 one totally ignored me, but little Lottie, a black
and silver Mini comes bounding over and stays around for the next 90 minutes, having climbed on to my legs and had a
quick 30 minutes sleep, lots of cuddles, stroking, rolling over onto her back and having her tummy tickled, a real
little softie who stole my heart, and I really didn't have much say in the matter lol.

She was 5 weeks old when I saw her there, Katie sent pictures of her on a weekly basis, upto 8 weeks old.

Finally the day came that I could go down and pick her up, at exactly 8 weeks old, she was the 2nd of her litter
to be picked up, she said a goodbye to her mum and her aunt (well a dachshund), and then off she went to her new
home.

It must have taken her all of 5 minutes to get her paws under the table, she settled in very quickly and for the
first few nights I slept on the couch with her next to me in her bed on the floor, she didn't really cry and
on the night I went upstairs to my room, she just slept through until morning.

As per any puppy of her age, she has nice sharp teeth, I was prepared for this and she has a selection of new
toys to play with (Lucky wasn't much for toys where as Lottie loves them).

Of course, after play comes rest smile

But those teeth, she needed to get them into something that wasn't electrical, only the table (its not THAT
bad) and the rugs... this is far better for her!

Of course she can also be a little so and so, the washing pile is a source of much wonder for an adventerous
little thing, this picture says more than I can, that is not a placed item, that is how SHE ended up!

And how can anyone say she isnt cute smile

Now at 13 weeks old, she is learning new tricks and going out on her lead, though she isnt impressed
with her collar (number 2 as she made a bit of a mess with the first one, clip ones ftw!)
She also seems to prefer a harness, and she is very bright, not bad on her lead and sticks to you like glue,
well most of the time, can fetch the ball, sits on command (with a small bribe) not over keen on being
house trained though (blame that on the bad weather), even with puppy pads, started off good then decided
she preferred to eat them rather than use them for her wee's n poo's....

Still, she is damned cute smile

The last word is that I did and still to an extent feel a little guilty about getting Lottie so soon after losing Lucky frown
Its fading, Lucky is now buried and I have a really nice and expensive memorial Plaque with her photo on that
will go with her, its put closure to losing her and I am now really enjoying Lottie's company as much as I
did with Lucky, both are different characters but are so similar in so many ways, well that's terror's, sorry, terriers
for you smile

Aww, she is lovely and perfect that she chose you smile. You will have fond memories of Lucky, I'm glad you are starting to feel comfortable and happy with your decision, it makes the bonding process much easier smile.

Quick question, does it yap uncontrollably at the first hint of noise?
Our neighbours have two and they are annoying beyond belief, although I suspect this is down to laziness and lack of training on our neighbours part.

I posted a similar comment earlier this morning about my Gran's next door neighbour's mini-Schnauzer but then deleted it as thought it was a tad unfair to post that in this positive thread about a new pup!

Love that last photo. Good luck with her tonyb1968, looks like she's landed on her feet at your place smile

To be honest with you, she isnt that bad, she has actually barked at the delivery man just before Christmas when he rang the door bell, not really a bad thing, they are suppose to make a good guard dog like that but they should be quiet when asked, so it may be a lack of training or just an over enthusiastic couple of mutts smile

Nothing wrong with asking questions smile every breed has its quirks and then every dog has its own characteristics, but having updated Katie on how Lottie is going on, she has said she takes afer her mum, being a bit on the fiesty side lol smile and her mum was very responsive to people she didnt know, vocally.

A few more pictures, for some reason its easier with Lottie to use a camera phone, I have not tried the DSLR out on her yet, im thinking she will either try to eat it or just not be there when I take the picture!

Its that cardboard box again, what is it with dogs and boxes?!

Unfortunately she also likes the boots that came in said cardboard box and they go walkies or end up having their shoe laces chewed.

It's hard work being a pup smile

Sometimes she can look quite angellic smile
