Just got up this morning to discover the attached.

The lump has been there for a while. Suddenly increased in size while we were on holiday. Took him vets on Friday, despite the size he was fairly unconcerned.

3 options:
1 leave it as it wasn't bothering him.
2 get a biopsy done.
3 get it removed.

We decided to have a biopsy to be safe.

Since then it has bled very slightly, this morning it has bled quite a lot. Not the easiest place to bandage but done what i could.

He will be going to the vet on opening,he doesn't seem in pain and unbothered by it.

Any ideas?

Sorry to see the lump, hoping you get it sorted.

The picture gave me a bit of a shock though. I thought I was clicking a thread in Health Matters.

Not good news. He is getting worse quickly. Vet advised best option is the big sleep.
Dosed up on pain killers, just waiting for the wife to get home.

Poor Harry is comfortable for his final few hours. frown

That is very sad. It is surprising how quickly lumps increase in size and then it is not good news. Maybe he had licked it overnight which made it bleed badly. Make the most of the hours you have left him.

Sorry for your loss. It's difficult to do the right thing, you took the right decision.

I'm so sorry, I saw this post earlier but didn't get chance to reply, I really didn't expect to see you'd had to say goodbye frown. I thought it looked quite nasty, especially where it was, sorry for your loss.

Thanks Bex, it got worse incredibly quickly. Looked much nastier later.

I wish we had never had the biopsy done, we would have had more time.

Still we did the right thing, best for Harry though not for us.

Really hate being in the house at present.

To be honest lumps like this are very vascular, it may only have been days and he could have caught it at home and haemorrhaged. We have to make such tough decisions all the time and we only ever do it to try and do best by our friends, that is all we can do. My poor friend had to say goodbye to her 7yr old patterdale after a horrific accident (Milly jumped into a bath that had only had hot water in it at the time frown ) they discussed treatment with the vet but decided against it (I strongly believe she made the right decision) my friend is going through the awful what if scenario, made worse because it happened in front of her 16yr old daughter (she was running a bath for herself). No one can predict what is going to happen just as you couldn't know the biopsy would cause such a problem. Take care, I now how it feels when they aren't around the home anymore.

Sorry for your loss frown happened to me at the end of October, our little one went in for one thing and then complications set in which finished her off frown left me gutted and the house felt very empty without her frown
Our 4 legged friends are irreplaceable but I have a new little girl who is keeping me busy and my mind off losing Lucky, I forgot how much effort puppies are, but its fun having her around smile
