whimpering 8 year old Labrador
Discussion
For the last week our Millie has been whimpering/whining and acting strange like nesting .
She's not due in season for another 5 or so weeks ,even though her timing has been off the last few times.
I have Googled for answers but still unclear.
I don't think she's in any pain ,she definitely not right.
Any ideas?

Vet, if she is entire and showing abnormal signs she is a high risk candidate for a pyometra (which is life threatening), hormones can become messed up giving off behavioural signs.
She needs a vet check asap. Also need to rule out pregnancy or other less common things like thyroid issues.
Has she been drinking more?

Unless she is hearing something that is freaking her out? Any new noises in the house? Must say her behaviour isn't classic indicator of a pyo but obviously it is showing all is not right (could be getting pain somewhere that she can't alleviate or pinpoint eg abdominal, that can cause this sort of strange behaviours)
Hope they get her sorted and back to her normal self soon!

Thanks all , apparently she's having a phantom pregnancy and they also found a infection in her stomach.
All treated now.
Unfortunately we have to spay her before she's next in season and TBH I don't like the idea but the vet said it's for the best.
I don't like having to do an emergency anaesthetic on a sick female dog in toxic shock due to a womb infection but unfortunately we do it far too often .All treated now.

I completely understand the worry of putting your pet through an anesthetic and a fairly big surgical procedure and we all know no anaesthetic is risk free but they can get so sick with a pyometra I wouldn't risk it, get her done before it starts. I am very happy to read it is just a phantom this time! But it is a warning for future esp if she never really had them before. A confused Millie at the mo!
