Ok background.

This cat has been around for many years and is the mother of 3 other cats that all live at an elderly relatives residence.

However this particular cat has only been captured once and was taken to the vet and spayed just after she had her kittens, 14 years ago.

The other cats are all fully domesticated however the mother cat won't let anyone within 2 meters of her (runs away) apart from her own offspring and no one has ever handled her.

The cat has it's own little house in the garden, is well fed and has lived there happily for many many years as she is very well cared for,

However two days ago during a visit I noticed the cat had a closed eye with discharge.

Obviously we would like to get the cat to a vet.

Any tips on how I might actually catch/trap her with as less stress as possible?

Place her food bowl in a cat carrier next to her kennel then close the door after her?

Ask a local rescue for a cat trap that can be set up. It is the only way really. If after all these yrs she has not tamed I don't think you'll succeed easily with enticing her with food enough to pick her up and put her in a basket.

Ok this sounds promising

I'll get onto the cat people tomorrow.

You may need to try a couple of rescue centres to find one that will have one available.

Just to update. If anyone interested.

Moggie was trapped today and taken to the vets. Unbelievably she came into the house (must have been poorly) and I placed the trap infront of the gap behind the sofa where she decided to hide and bingo she walked right in.

She had an injury to the eye and the vet has patched her up. It was no easy task though. She kicked up a right fuss.

Result and big thanks to the Cats Protection League.

and thanks for the advice.....

Her eye is closed this morning and she won't come anywhere near the house now but hopefully it will all be ok.
