No longer a dog owner
Discussion
Well that wasn't easy. A very nice young vet came round to our house to put our wee dog off to sleep.
Phoebe was only 6 but developed protein losing enteropathy and was wasting away in front of us. Being a staffy she was very resilient right up to the end the spirit was willing even if the flesh was weak. Typing this with a tear in my eye and a glass in my hand. There is now a huge hole in our lives. RIP

. So sorry to read this, bless her so young. A horrible condition. Losing them at any age is horrendous but when they are still young, you can't help but feel cheated (I know that feeling)
I hope one day when the time is right you will be a dog owner once again. For now you need to remember your memories of Phoebe.

My sympathies also. We had a run of it here on PH a year or so back, and mine was one of them. It's awful at the time, it remains bad but it does get a little easier. Earlier this month it was the first anniversary of Duffy going, I was in the office at work that day but at the appointed time I walked to a little pub beside the river, ordered a small nip of a nice single malt, and toasted her memory overlooking the water, where she loved to be.
You'll be able to have sad, but nice, times in the memory of your dog in the future, even though it doesn't feel like it at the moment, and you'll be a dog owner again, maybe sooner than you think.

Hi CAPPO - I remember that time a year ago well. My Jaz's anniversary of passing is tomorrow and I remember posting with you as though it was yesterday. As you have said, it does get easier although the numb pain remains and catches you out without warning at times. Hi Gary, hope things are good with you. Yes, time flies by. Even after a year, our other dog, who we had before we lost Duff, still occasionally gets called by her name. Mostly makes us smile though now when that happens.AML said:

We had another girl taken from us suddenly about 4 years ago, we quite often talk about her and her funny little foibles. Both staffy crosses btw, we have a soft spot for them but then they make that easy for you, take care. Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
