Interesting, thanks. OH and I were only talking about the fact that they aren't/weren't a recognised breed last night.

A lot of jrt breeders didn't want the breed recognised. Felt it would lose some of it's grounding as a breed

I can see that! I don't really know anything about the subject but it always puzzled me why we needed some self appointed pompous officials to say whether a dog was worthwhile or not. But then 5 minutes of crufts on the telly is enough to put me in a bad mood for a week.....

hehe

Yes it is exactly this though. The risk of inbreeding to bring out the traits judges deem correct. There has always been a wide variety of type due to not being kc recognised. I can understand the concerns tbh. It is a popular breed it really doesn't benefit to be kc'd but for some breeders who will see pound signs because of it.

My friend has a Jack Russell and having recently lost her other dog was looking for another. She is having such a struggle to find a (soon to be) pedigree. All litters seem to be Jackapoos, Jackacav, Jackhuahua etc,

Are they anywhere near Cambridgeshire? - These always seem to have a JRT or two got to be quick though as they have a good turnover - http://www.woodgreen.org.uk/rehome/dogs

No, but they are keeping an eye on local ones, it would need to be a pup to be accepted by her current one and her daughter's who she looks after during the week.
