The sooner these creatures are added to the banned list and the current crop destroyed the better.

And I don't buy the "it's the owners fault" mantra. They are all ticking time bombs.

You're probably in the wrong section of the site here. Fascists who know nothing about dogs, but like to spout crap is over there ---->

How delightful. What breed do you have?

Sadly another breed whose reputation is blighted due to certain plum owners, a bit like Rottweilers and some of the bull breeds. Just like any large breed they can be dangerous animals without the appropriate husbandry and potential owners should realise what they are taking on. They are not a breed to be left chained in a garden or left in a house all day long.

The two Akitas I had were great, they required lots of training and exercise, but were great with kids and adults, the only incident of aggression ever shown was when my dog caught a burglar in the kitchen and even then it was controlled.

I heard a noise and came downstairs to the kitchen, and saw my dog stood on its hind legs with its jaws wrapped around the burglars throat, I swear the dog looked at me as if it say give me the word dad and I will have him. He didn't draw blood, and when he was being taken away by the BiB I overheard him say effing dog didn't bark once should have gone next door they only have a cocker spaniel.

I wouldn't hesitate to have another one, if my lifestyle suited, sadly it doesn't thats why I have cats now.

Small terrior on a lead is jumped on by an Akita that ran 100 yards for its entertainment. Despite my boy's screams the Akita starts to shaking him. A kick to the belly stops it for long enough for me to drag my dog away only for it to begin again. This time a kick to the balls again stops it for a moment. It then comes again, but for me.

My next kick landed on the side of its head. A brutal kick. It decided enough was enough and chased another dog out of the park and into the road.

My dog has signs of internal bleeding.

That does horrible OP. I couldn't imagine that happening to mine and thats why i tend to go to my local national trust place as the dogs tend to be well behaved(ish). To say that all of the Akitas should be culled is bit OTT. Hope your dogs makes a speedy recovery.

OK, Akitas are powerful strong dogs that need a firm hand, however it isn't the Akita's fault that it is like this, I could name any number of dogs that without the right training and ownership, could do the same thing so a bit unfair to blame the breed.

I can understand your anger though, hope your boy is fine.

When your boy is screaming in fear and pain it concentrates your mind. He knew he was in trouble.

Scottish Terrier BTW, so not a cry baby.

I sympathise I really do, awful scenario but I wouldn't suggest banning the breed is appropriate.

IAny breed can cause vicious attacks.I saw a collie once off lead walking sedate by owner suddenly lunge unprovoked at a small terrier and shook the he'll out of it. The owner of collie had a stick and had to thwack his dog with it to stop it and he walked of!! He was obviously well aware of what his dog could do.

I tended to the dog and got the owners to a vet etc was a lucky dog in the end.

I wish you'd explained your reason for your vent in your Op! I hope your dog makes a quick recovery and your son is ok.

Ah, the irony is that my dogs have been attacked by several terriers in their time.......

Yet another Idiot favouring animal genocide because of some perceived right of absolute existence over and above anything on the planet

I understand your frustration we all love our dogs. My dog was attacked by every Jack Russell terrier it met when it was a puppy. They still have a go now but now he can defend himself. Unfortunately it's probably stuck in his mind because he's always on guard these days. Should we kill all Jack Russell terriers too?

How very strange. I suggested that it might be unwise to wipe out an entire breed of dog based on a single incident, and my reply was removed.

Somebody want to explain? Which rule did I break?
