Advantage & Advocate flea treatments

Hi All, anybody tried the Advantage 80 flea treatment (or any advantage product) for their fury overlords instead of Advocate which is prescription only?. Whilst the Advocate treats worms too, just considering the flea treatment side is it as effective? the active ingredient would appear to be the same in a product that costs 1/2 the price + I don't have to pay to get a prescription off the vet for it. I have enough Advocate for about 6 months but just wanting to plan ahead.
