.. the kitchen. We never had any problems with him until our road was resurfaced and we had to leave him for an hour with the other pup, when we came back the house was shaking due to the machinery and he was (understandably) shaken up. Strangely the dog that used to be scared of cars wasn't bothered by it at all.

He is ok when we are still up in the evening as he sleeps on the sofa or in the upstairs spare bedroom till we go to sleep. When he knows its bedtime he gets very shaky and does not want to be left in the kitchen. We have so far tried tickling his belly to calm him down which does work but as soon as you get up he bolts to the door and we have one of those adaptil diffusers swell but it hasn't made any difference. So what do i do next?

A. Keep doing what i am doing and hope he learns that it is safe again.
B. Don't bother locking them in the kitchen at night. (the other pup has not matured as quickly as him and is like an on-off switch so the Mrs is worried about her trashing things if we don't get up quick enough)
C. Put a baby gate on the kitchen doorway so he can watch us go upstairs and he can see the rest of the house (theres only two rooms downstairs)

Im thinking i will probably get a baby gate tomorrow and see what happens but would love to hear any suggestions, its horrible that he's in such a state when we have to leave him.

I would start with the baby gate too, and see how things go from there.

Get some Kalmaid, zylkene and ADAPTIL plug in.

Also needs some kind of desensitisation programme, there are cd's to guide on this in the Soundz scary range.
