My old Burmese cat just had some kind of seizure
Discussion
He was quite happily sitting on my Mum's lap and showed no signs of abnormality immediately before, but then spontaneously started to thrash, writhe and chomp. Mum freaked out and passed him to me and I put him on the floor on his side and tried to keep him from hurting himself. The seizure only lasted about 30 seconds. Afterwards hi couldn't stand for a minute or two but about 15 minutes later he nonchalantly had a bite to eat and a wee in his tray before resuming lazing on the sofa with us.
He's 18 years old but hasn't exhibited any of these symptoms before. The only unusual occurrence today was Mum, ignoring my protestations, gave him some of her cheesecake.
We were horrified when it happened and I immediately called the emergency vet line and fully expected to take him in for a check over but he went back to normal so quickly that we just decided to keep an eye on him overnight and book it in the morning.
Advice / experiences anyone?

It does happen unfortunately, there could be many related reasons
High blood pressure
Thyroid issue
Kidney problems
Brain tumour to list a few.
For tonight peace and quiet with someone keeping a check on him during the night incase it happens again. If any more episodes time them, if they go on for more than 3 mins phone the vet, she will probably need seeing (or if starts having one fit after the other)
3 of the 4 possibles I mentioned can be tested for on site and can be treatable sadly if they find it is a brain issue (not so likely though tbh) that isn't so easy.
It will be a worry I know but try not to, hopefully her appointment tomorrow will be able to FinD and treat the reason
