We had them as kids, never seemed to live that long, think the oldest made it to 3. Also seemed to always be suffering from some ailment or another, skin diseases being one of the more common things so be prepared for the odd vets bill.
I think I'll go for rabbits if my kids decide they want some fluffy pets, seem a bit easier to look after and more hardy.

Weve had them for years, latest ones is the first time weve had two and their like different creatures from the others. If you can get them out they'll have a great time with you but other than that they just seem scared. Normally sit about 10m from them but if i get up they will scarper and hide. They wont let you stroke them, one never the other only under the chin while feeding.
I have no idea what is with them but when viewed from afar their happy and they're still fun to watch and very close to each other most of the time.
Others that we had were looking ke dogs theyd hear the front door and be waiting at the bars to have a play.

these three span both types as described the younger ones 'pegg it' if you approach but the older one will be at the bars waiting for a treat or pickupI have no idea what is with them but when viewed from afar their happy and they're still fun to watch and very close to each other most of the time.
