Is this odd Hedgehog behaviour
Discussion
We live in the end of a block paved cul de sac . For the last 2 nights one of our prickly friends has in effect been doing circuits , probably a 30/40ft circle, same direction, he/she's not hanging about and sniffing or apparently eating. I was thinking maybe it's eating ants or similar but I don't know if they are out at night. This goes on for well over an hour before we get bored of watching. last night a cat whizzed past him but took no notice. We do get the occasional fox in the street are they vulnerable to fox attack.?
Does this sound normal because it certainly looks odd?m

We found a baby hedgehog on its own looking lost and frail in the daytime so we put him in our spare chicken run with cat milk, cat food and he's now looking chipper! Maybe if he's at risk, take him home, feed and water him and then point him in the right direction, away from the road?
We've been advised by hedgehog helpline and St Tiggywinkles that they suffer from parasites and ticks in their ears which can drive them loopy - understandably.
They asked us to catch it and have it checked out by a vet and to feed it meaty cat food. Apparently they have a fast metabolism and can eat half a tin a night. Also been told they stink. Said to put it in a box with lots of newspaper to soak up their waste and that the box should be at least a foot high to prevent them climbing out.
Tried to get it last night but it evaded capture diving into undergrowth. Will try again tonight.

Outwitted by a demented 'hog, oh the ignominy.
Had to send my son out to get him as I can't do it due to a health issue. He mistimed his approach and it disappeared into undergrowth. Haven't seen him the last couple of nights and now concerned that a cat or some wildlife may have got him first.Gassing Station | All Creatures Great & Small | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
