Just lost and FOUND (10mins ago) our dog and searching around the lost dog sites we came across this.
It needs 10.000 signatures before it even gets debated.
Time for PH to get involved me thinks.

Well there is no harm in legislating it but I don't know of any vet practices who don't already scan all strays tbh

We scan any animal with a slightly dodgy history this is definitely the grey area though.

I remember a campaign similar to this as certain authorities like highways agency had found strays killed by the side of the road and just dumped them rather than scanning for ownership.

I think the wider links would definitely benefit with legislating. I did know a kennels yrs ago didn't scan as a result we discovered a rehome that already had a home frown. I would be even.more horrified if this was still happening than I was back then!

Nope it was Harveys law

I would have hoped any associated costs of the recovery, storage and incident caused by the errant animal would be passed on to irresponsible owners but that's not as fluffy as the heart wrenching pc campaign.
