Best food for the birds

Going to sound crazy. Ride my bike through a nature reserve each day and feel a bit sad seeing all the birds hanging around, wondering if it's wrong to take food for them.

bird seed, corn, grains etc, or chopped up raw veg

Unlike the large pond not far away from us where they tip loaves of bread in.

I have loads of geese near where I live. They go nuts for corn over all other choices.

Agree with the bread comment. Have a look at places like Haiths or Wiggly Wigglers that sell bird food, they seem to eat the majority of seed matter.

Bloody annoying. Not one for making a fuss but we went loaded with bird seed, high energy stuff. Something akin to Mrs Miggins shuffled to the pond, up ended one of Hovis finest out of date and shuffled off. Probably thinking that was the good deed for the day. All the waterfowl went for the bonanza in zero goodness.

Edit. Take a camera as well if that is your bent.
