What to do next, allergy results back for nali the dog
Discussion
OK, after googling different products now totally overwhelmed and confused, blood tests show Allergies so 2 out of a 5 score for acurus siro (storage mites), 3 out of 5 for derm farinae and 1 out of 1 out of 5 for derm pteronyssinus (house dust mites). Everything else came up clear,
Have looked on line for soft furnishing spray for mattress, carpet etc but seen mixed reviews as some are toxic to animals!!!, also ref storage mites can put new food into sealed bin, or freezer???, need to bin all of his furry blankets or bedding or wash on a very hot wash without clogging up the washing machine,
Then what mattress protectors are better than others ???, don't have carpets in the bedroom which should help, and have leather sofas too.
Been told not to hoover every day as this will disturb them so just want to start making little man better, have also advised by vet to try some course of injections to desensatise him, so much mixed info on line can any one help
Thank you very much😕

Sorry only just seen this.
Right where to start, basically all of it!!
Do the desens injections if he will tolerate them, they really do help many of our cases.
Storage mites - do you feed dry food, if so, wash the storage bin out after each time it is emptied (and don't have too large a one. Clean around his mouth after each feed with a clean j cloth (storage mites can irritate around the lip folds) I've not heard of freezing the food before though (sort of makes sense though)
House dust mites, find protective mattress covers. Freezing bedding does work but regular 60 degree washes should be done as well.
Actually the one thing I wouldn't use is any sprays of any kind.

Thanks bex, diet now changed to hypo allergenic wet food, washed everything 60 degrees and hoovered every where, allergy covers on relevant items where possible and injections on order, takes 2 weeks so hopefully with those we can get him off the steroids and back to his cheeky self
Thank you for your advise, left the spray suggestion well alone

Still waiting for injections, poor thing nose still flaky and nasally, and today he has started gnawing at the pads on the front leg have applied cream from vets suralan but so frustrating and sad to see him like this, don't know what else to do
Is he on any medication? Now the allergy testing is done there's no reason not to use drugs to try and calm things down whilst you sort out the environmental measures and wait for the allergy vaccination. Thanks, yes on steroids been on them for what seems ages, Powder for nasal discharge, and hayfever tablets, so not sure how he would be without all of these but only time he seemed slightly better was after they knocked him out and did a nasal flush, will check the blood test results sheet though
Aww, honestly it's the least I can do. It came about because my cat is having a horrendous flare up at the mo, she sounds terrible and is not eating, I happened to mention about it to some other vet nurses when one suggested this drug, I've not heard of it before (and I thought I was pretty up on treatments for her condition) I may be talking to my vet about it on Monday.
