I have an Alfa GTV front bumper stood on end in the garden, noticed nest building going on, inside it ( inside faces out) I removed it, it did not take them long to build a new one behind my back, 2 eggs in it now.
We have 2 cats, Leo the Tom is a cold blooded killer, Tiger the baitch likes to torture things, I would like the eggs and birds to stay safe, it is positioned in the garden where the cats come and go, any suggestions ??

Blackbirds are notorious for building their nests in full view of predators. In our garden it's the magpies that have the eggs or young out of the nests.
Can you build a cat proof cage around it? I imagine it'll be difficult as you'll still need to allow the adult birds in and out.

Funnily enough I have just built a cat proof cage around herselfs veggie plot.
Had a mooch round my junk ( her word) I have chicken wire and an old frame from a motorcycle tent, I think I can fashion something to cover the side where the cats travel, tomorrow's project methinks, I am sure I can leave a large enough opening for the birds, good call, thanks

And this morning, there is no sign of the eggs, not so much as a tiny piece of shell, the nest is very disturbed and no sign of any feathers..
Something happened in the night, I have now removed the bumpers.

One blackbird that may well have escaped a predator - minus its tail!
