We have two cats, a brother and sister, who have had free access to outside whenever they like. My wife moved house on Friday (I'm working away at the moment)and all the commotion of the removal lads has obviously spooked the female.
My wife managed to get the boy caged and up into the new house no problem, but unfortunately no such luck with the girl.
She won't come near her or the house now, initially we had the catflap set so that she could get in but not out but it appears the crafty git managed to get in for a feed and then escaped somehow.
Unfortunately the new people are in the house and they have taped the flap shut so she can't get in redface(
We have two traps set from the local cats protection and have caught a couple of cats so far but not her, I think she is too smart.
Does anyone have any other ideas? She seems to be hanging around the area, as my wife has seen her a few times.
My wife is extremely upset and desperate to get her back.
Help!!

Persevere with the traps, why won't the new home owners let her in?

Spend am afternoon on a nice day, calmly sat there with her favourite food?

That's what I was thinking, my wife has tried sitting in the garden for a few hours but she's obviously wary, the weathers not been great either.
I reason the new owners have taped the flat is because apparently they hate cats and they are doing some work on the house so do t want the cat inside.

Seems harsh, surely just to help you out they could give a bit!! Honestly people are a pain sometimes!

The above is what I would do I think, I can't think what else at the mo, hopefully others will suggest alternative ideas, fingers crossed, last thing you needed to be worried about.

Hopefully she's caught now?

Ask if you can put the trap behind the cat flap so she goes through into it & is trapped? They call your wife & she comes to fetch her straight away?

That way, she's in their house but not 'in it' if that makes sense?

Unfortunately no luck yet frown
She is still about and the neighbour fed her something but didn't manage to get a hold of her.
The person in the house has agreed to leave the catflap open for a few days so hopefully she might go in.
The traps are working, I could start selling cats but it looks like ours might be to smart. biggrin
Posters are going up this afternoon so hopefully someone will manage to get her.
We are hopeful as long as she is still in the area.

That's a good idea about the trap behind the flap, I might suggest that. Thanks.

I just wonder whether she might see the trap as she starts to come in through the flap & turns away? Would having it just inside with some food inside it so she can't exit the house be a safer option?
Good luck with catching hersmile

I thought that, but as the new owner wasn't happy thought it might appeal to them; however, as they are now co-operating - fingers crossed smile

Result!
She turned up in one of the traps this morning.
She has had a visit to the vet and she is fine, a bit scruffy with a slug stuck to her and a slightly bleeding claw but no problems.
Happy now. biggrin

TBH, I was beginning to lose hope a bit.
I'm sure all the other cats in the neighbourhood will be happy the traps are gone.
You think that they would learn. laugh
