Sugar solution is fine but please don't feed bees honey (particularly cheap shop-bought honey "from more than one country") as it can contain pathogens like American or European foul brood spores which they will take back to the hive and infect it.
But as bees only have a foraging life of a few weeks the knackered ones are probably on the way out anyway, unless they have been caught out in rain or a sudden cold spell.

I visited a church recently and saw a bumble bee trapped inside. There were lots of fresh flowers inside and it seemed very healthy, and was flying about quite merrily and visiting some of the flowers to feed. Once it came low enough for me to grab and rescue, but I didn't fancy trying to catch it with bare hands. I tried to usher it out by waving my arms around but no luck; churches are very high. I hope it got out somehow.
Last weekend while cruising about I spotted an abandoned house. Parked up, let myself in the open back door to have an explore and there was an exhausted bumble bee on the floor. I wish I'd seen this thread before then, I wanted to help him but he was quickly forgotten as I ventured further in. Come to think of it, what could I have done anyway.
Yup, cool starry bra...
