Our resident Moorhen has made its nest on our pond. If the ducks leave her alone we will have another little Moorhen family this year....

On our pond the moorhens are in charge, the ducks are sent packing on occasions. We've had baby ducks already, just waiting for the mini-moorhens now.

Might want to think about setting traps for mink, stoats and weasels.

we had our little Pom poms about 3 weeks ago 6 all told and doing well
I made a small island for them to nest on and the parents dont take kindly to uninvited guests.
All our Ducklings are happy to feed from our hands but the Moorhens have always kept their distance.
