We have a small pond with fish in it. Please don't ask any details as I don't really pay a lot of attention - the fish are goldfish not koi etc.

The fish shop has sold pellet food to my wife as some of the fish are larger. We normally used flakes.

My daughters gold fish (Goldie) is small. Will it eat the pellets or could it struggle to feed?

Please help - she's looking over my shoulder!

Unless the pond is clinically clean small fish will survive on what they can find quite happily and the more fish food the big fish eat, the less competition there is for natural food.

Little fish will nibble big food as it breaks down in the water, if the bigger fish don't snatch it first. You can distract the big fish then feed flake or crumbled pellets in a different area for the smaller fish if you want. Some pond fish foods contain a mix of pellet and flake anyway.

Whatever you do, they won't starve.
