I am hoping someone on PH may be able to help as my family are beginning to drive me mad.
Unfortunately , last week our long haired cat, Cobweb, was found dead in a neighbours garden. My wife and daughters were upset when our other cat passed away after a long life last year, but this past week they have been very depressed about Cobweb and seem to be taking it much worse than last year.
They are determined to find kittens as soon as possible and are talking about driving from Bristol to locations as far away as London or Birmingham when they think they may have located some available.
I have suggested that they wait as a I am sure with patience the right ones will turn up but this suggestion is falling on deaf ears.
They are not looking for pedigree cats, just some cute long haired kittens.
Does anybody have any suitable kittens available now or soon?

They have been virtually living online in gumtree and pets4homes, but at this time of year there are few available.

Local rescue centers will have cats, perhaps not 8wk old kittens, but still lovely animals needing homes.

Thanks for the suggestion, they are off to the local animal shelters this afternoon.
We had a pair of cats from a shelter many years ago .

Great stuff. A few years ago we got a pair of kittens (10mths old or so) - They are still wonderfully good fun and loving.

Thanks, they are off there now, as well as the Moggery and bristol cat and dog shelter.
Fingers crossed they find some kittens.

I was not aware of the rules, I am not a regular in here. Pics will be posted as soon as they turn up with the little beasts.

The animal rescue centre in Charfield near Wotton under Edge seems to advertise having kittens fairly regularly.

They have returned home empty handed. Although kittens were seen, my daughters didn't take to any of them as they seem to have decided they would like another grey cat. Cobweb was our cat who has just passed away and they would like one who is similar.
As I couldn't post a pic of the new kittens I have put one of Cobweb.

I will post some of the new kittens when they eventually find some.

I can see why he was called Cobweb smile

I can also see why they want one that looks the same - though that could be tricky. Even if you find one that looks superfcially the same, its character will be different. It will not be a Cobweb replacement. So I think - having been through this myself - that it's time to let Cobweb pass gracefully into fond history and start afresh with a new cat. Choose it for its character, not any passing resemblance to cats past, and how well you all bond with it. And it doesn't have to be a kitten. Generally, kittens have no problems finding homes; it's the adult cats to whose lives you could really make a difference. So yes, get down to all the local rescue centres and do one cat a massive favour smile

Indeed, he was a stunning cat! frown

Agree with Simpo, might well be a blessing they came home empty handed today. No cat can be replaced, they all have distinct personalities.

Along with teen/adult cars, black ones get looked over a lot frown (& as they look like Toothless this is a real shame! Selling point wink)

If you are going to be back on the kitten trail then a local rescue, RSPCA, or Cats Protection place should have some. Mine both came from my local RSPCA. They were 12 weeks old and there were no shortage of needy kittens there.
