We got this chap at 6 weeks very under weight and he is now about 20 weeks.
Our other Dogs came to us as adults so exercise was limited by time available anything up to 2 hours.
I read a puppy should have 5mins exercise for every month lived. Now he goes out for about 25mins but it doesn't seem enough for him. Anyone got any other limits on their puppies exercise.

The Don't follow that rule too closely but just be a bit sensible with what he does. Ie try and avoid mad ball chasing, esp if he slides to a halt/ jumps in the air to catch a ball, these activities put a lot of strain on the joints, that doesn't mean he can't have fun with a ball/ toy on a walk just keep it small. Avoid runs in rough terrain or steep terrain until the muscles are there and build him up to them.

My friend breeds labs (very conscientious breeder and a vet nurse) she does not follow the 5 min per month rule as it's not enough for them. She does do gundog training with them which is great exercise but controlled for them.

I'd tempted to start increasing his exercise a few mins every week but remember to provide mental stimulation on the walks just as useful as the length of walk and be consistent.

Thanks Bex.
He does 15 mins in the morning in the garden chasing the girls and a walk on the lead in the afternoon.
Problem I have now is he doesn't want to come back in the house he loves being out.

Our trainer said for more energetic dogs we could extend it to the same limit but per walk instead of per day
