In an attempt to stop my cat ripping up an expensive new carpet, I bought a Feliway spray. It has an alcohol smell when first applied and does seem to deter scratching. Good.

For a more widespread effect I then bought the plug-in Feliway diffuser. It's hard to say if it's having any effect BUT - the liquid has no smell at all, not even of alcohol. I bought it from an Amazon seller; the first pack never arrived and this is the replacement. It seems very easy to fill an empty bottle with water and sell it as new... so how could I tell if I have Feliway and not water?

I've never smelt the Feliway out of the diffuser, I can smell the Pet Remedy however & it's a lot nicer when sprayed as well!

Does that mean you haven't tried to smell it, or that you did smell it but it had none?

Sorry, I mean that I'd smelt it sprayed so knew the smell, and that I'd not smelt it from the diffuser.

Ta! has anyone else used the diffuser to confirm it looks just like water and has no smell? Bex?

Correct on both counts. The spray stinks but diffuser doesn't smile and it looks like water.

Thanks Bex.

So when it's empty, I could refill it from the tap and see if the placebo effect works on cats, haha...

Or sell it and get my money back... maybe everyone does this and so now all of the diffusers in circulation are now water-filled...? spin

You could try!!

Feliway diffuser worked a treat for my old Fitz boy who sprayed (only when I shared a house with a friend who had cats)

He stopped for a while; then did it again frown, at this point I realised the plug in hadron out!!
