I have a flock of ~10 chickens and bantams, including a chicken cockerel and a bantam cockerel.

The chicken cock was the most recent addition to the flock and he seems to currently be at the bottom of the pecking order despite his size.

Both cockerels seem to happily co-exist but I want to know if we have trouble in store when the chicken cock reaches maturity and his hormones start raging in Springtime? I don't want the bantam to be torn apart. Any advice appreciated.

See the below picture. The bantam cock is in the middle, facing the camera, the chicken cock is back left. This pic was taken a few months ago.

We have tried two chicken cocks together in the past and that resulted in an unfortunate fight to the death. Foolish of us really, they lived together for a good couple of years before the fight, so we had let our guard down. Initially we were on the look out for trouble between them, they never had a single fight apart from the fatal one. The larger one won the fight but later died of his (horrific) injurys.

We then had a Bantum cock, and eventually took on a rescue chicken cock that had changed sex at a chicken farm. He was really aggressive towards dogs and humans but never bother the Banty. I always maintained it would turn on him one day but was outvoted and so they lived together for a year without a fight. I believe that the chicken cock never saw the banty as a threat because he was the smallest out of all the hens and therefore couldn't mate them. Who knows what would of happened in time, we will never know because one day the dog had enough of being chased by a hen so snug outside and chased him around the garden and finished him off!
