Well, there's no delicate way of putting this. Whilst Otis likes to take a dump in the garden first thing, he invariably needs another 5-10 minutes into his lunchtime walk. I always clear up after him, using small black dog poo bags purchased & stored specifically for the purpose, but at least once a week there is, for some inexplicable reason, a st/digit interface issue (in other words, I get poo on my hand).

I'm not entirely sure how the apparently-simple task of inverting a bag, grasping the turds, and flicking the whole shebang inside out can be so difficult, but apparently it is. I'm equally unsure why it happens with Otis but never used to with Duffy. So, short of filling my other pocket with latex gloves, I need an alternative portable collection method, for when we are away from the house.

So, PH, the font of all expertise on every issue known to mankind, what do you use and what do you recommend?

I buy these ones ...

I think the thicker material helps the bag hold its shape when picking / inverting / tying and so avoids accidents a bit better than inferior floppy bags.

We have been using these for a number of years now after having problems with the smaller black ones:

We usually buy 1 or 2000 at a time as it works out cheaper. They are quite large and never had a problem with one breaking.

I use Sainsburys scented nappy bags. The orange ones cost approx 75p and I use them for the Labs as they do big poos. The basics range nappy ones cost approx 15p/100 for small dog poo.
Best ones for even bigger poos are Wilkinsons purple bags 20 for 50p. I keep one of those in the back pocket biggrin

The plastic gloves found by at petrol pumps. Easier to get on than latex and goes into the bag when done.

I had this issue once or twice (enough times for sure!), recently I have been getting some massive poo bags from Kennelgate. They're £1.50 for about 50 but they are like small rubbish sacks, really thick, the tie handles are up by my elbows when I'm picking the crap up so no danger of contamination.

Get large heavy duty bags in bulk from eBay.

Buy a box of these and carry a few with you every walk.

I turn it inside out and out my hand fully in. It's inpossible to get it on your hands.

A couple along the road carry around what I can only describe as a "poo catcher". Cracks me up every time I see them! biggrin

If you don't know what I mean it's a contraption like this one.

That's a cracking idea, thanks, don't know why I didn't think of that!

How hard is it to pick it up with the bag without getting Chod all over your hand.

In the last 11 years I think I've managed it about 3 times. One was last Sunday but I was a bit drunk.

Good question. I don't know, I can't work out how it keeps happening. It's not as if I'm new to it, had dogs (and cleared up after them) for years. Maybe it's the budget bags MrsC bought. I have shovels for hands, I'll try some bigger bags. Bizarre, I know!
