Cats and the TV
Discussion
I didn't think animals could see tv pictures like we do, however tonight whilst watching 'Winter Watch', my cat who was sat on the sofa, rushed to the tv when some mice came on it! He sat bolt upright in front, his head moving as the mice moved. As they rushed out of view, he tried to look around the corner of the tv. He even outstretched a paw at times.
He has seen the tv enough times and has occasionally sat close to the screen watching, but without a doubt tonight, he saw mice and ran at it!! Quite amusing for us to watch him...better than watching tv!

It's movement and sound that attract them the most. I'm not sure they comprehend what's going on though.
Our cats have reacted to other cats noises on the box for sure. Spooked them even. But I've never known cats kill mice like ours, sometimes we see 6 or more dead in a day and tonight when one came on the tv, that cat definitely recognised it and wanted to kill it. Don't think he was really following the program though!!!Athlon said:
We were watching the cats do the funniest things prog and our ca went mental at one of the cats on TV, arched back and big tail the lot
Was that the programme that was on chan5 the other night??? my Sphynx started growling at the tv when the cat was crying to get in the back door, the tiny bit of hair that he has was standing up.
