Dog Jed Finds New Home after being overlooked by 14,000 peo
Discussion
A dog that was overlooked by 14,000 potential owners has found a home in County Durham, the Dogs Trust has said.
Jed, a seven-year-old lurcher, had been with the trust in Sadberge, Darlington, on-and-off since he was four months old.

You have to wonder how he got so overlooked when such a young pup. Puppies rarely hang around in rescues.
Sometimes they just get unlucky and they're a bit plain looking, combined with bad timing of some really cute puppies coming along in the same timeframe. Once you miss rehoming them in that first 'cute puppy' stage it becomes a nightmare out here. If it makes it past 18 months and not rehomed its likely that it never will be. But then its worse out here as the good weather just makes it so easy for dogs to repeatedly breed in the wild bexVN said:

'The trust said he had been taken in by several families in the past but in each case, due to their circumstances changing, he had to be returned.'Also, from what I understand, black dogs are always harder to rehome, black greyhounds often stay longer in rescue than others.
Greyhounds, whippets and lurchers are notoriously difficult to rehome. A lot of people are put off because they think they need loads of exercise (they don't). And while pretty, they aren't overly cuddly looking. They can be difficult dogs and if off a lead it's best keep them muzzled because of their history. This might put people off too.
Really good to see Jed has found a new home. Hopefully this is his final home and he lives a good life.
Well done to The Dogs Trust as well.

Black dogs aren't really a problem to rehome. They're just as easy as other plain brown, orange, grey etc. Dogs with cool markings or patterns are way easier to shift on though. Its black cats which are hard to get rid of, I guess people still being superstitious !Heres the last batches of puppies I rehomed :
I had all of those at different times. The 2 fluffy ones that looked like bears were by far the easiest to move on

Seconded on the exercise comment. Our dog is a lurcher cross and she loves nothing more than repeatedly chasing a ball. A 'walk' for her is a trip around the corner to the local park and throwing the ball as much as I can in 20 minutes - tired dog for the rest of the day. If you took her for an hour long walk on the streets, she wouldn't be as tired.
