Seb refuses to put weight on. He is 24kg and ideally needs to be 25. He is currently on orijen and has 350g a day split over two meals well over their reccomend amounts for a "active dog". He has the pace of a greyhound and the stamina of a collie. nuts

Raw is not suitable at the moment. I have tried various different dry foods. But the more you give him, well he just sts more. I also *think* he may have a slight allergy regards to grains. Stools are fine if avoided.

I was thinking about working feeds, But he does not work and I don't need any more energy hehe

I'm also a cynic about asking my vet. They have a nice range of products they would like to sell...

You could bulk it out with sweet potato and white fish or trout.

Had a boxer I used to see, with a struggle to gain weight. She went onto Orijen (dietary intolerance) and the above, it worked well.

But then as a cynic you prob don't want the advice of a vet nurse, I mean I am bound to tell you to buy Hills aren't I.

I've always thought that dogs, like people, have a weight they are happy at. Obviously this changes with age as we all get fatter...

Phoebe has always been 25kg (Lab) and seems to eat what she needs and no more. Chester is 32kg and it doesn't bloody vary regardless of how little I feed the fat sod.

Having been on steroids for a six months, Phoebe ballooned to 32kg and would eat everything in sight (and if she wasn't getting enough at home, she'd eat out... if you get what I mean, yuk!) and now that she's off the steroids, without any effort on my part, the weight is just falling off her - down to 28kg in just a few weeks. Like people, some dogs are fat, and require constant vigillence to stop them over-eating and some are thin, regardless of what you do.

Of course, I could be talking out of my 4rse as usual. Forgive me, having a panicy day about my dog as she's having surgery.

Well I was meant to put a wink smiley at the end aswell, though I do get sick to death of the little comments like these that are constantly made re my profession. I am also severely sleep deprived due to a 6 week old baby so probably the real reason as to why I did that. Apologies for SOH failure though.

I will add some dogs are naturally slim esp if very active, young and not fed lots of crap. The important thing is if she has good/excellent muscle condition and tone. If this is a bit lacking then yes she could do with that extra kg smile
