A cat has adopted me. What now?
Discussion
Out for a walk with the missus and a cat has followed us all the way home (a couple of miles)
He (she?) is really skinny, but scabby round the ears and eyes, no collar.
Looks like he may have belonged to someone at some point but has definelty been neglected for a while.
We've brought him in and given him some food, he seems perfectly happy and comfortable.
We'll take him to the vet tomorrow to see if he's chipped and then potentially we'll keep him as a house cat if he's ownerless.
What's the advice of the floor?

If he followed you home and came in voluntarily then he's a domesticated cat so will no doubt use the tray. Take him to the vet and get him checked over plus wormers and flea treatment. If he's scabby he may be given antibiotics and or steroids as they can be come allergic to flea bites which cause them misery. If he's got fleas you will need to spray the rooms he's been in once he's been treated.
Good luck with it all.

First night was fine, did his business in the litter tray and was no trouble.
Even sat on our laps and had a fuss for an hour or two.
Been to the vet this morning - turns out he is chipped, his name is Alfie and he's 12.
The rightful owners are picking him up from the vets now
ETA: We'd already named him "keith" so perhaps a lucky escape for our feline friend.
