Some sick fk has shot my cat! Poor thing is clinging on to life at the moment she has an airgun pellet lodged in her chest just below her heart!

What kind of sick fking takes an air rifle to a cat, its fking disgusting! I am furious and broken up all at the same time.

Get well soon Lola we will find ou who did this and make them pay frown

Please for the love of your pets get them insured. We moved house and it lapsed and was forgotten about. We are paying the vet bills out of our pockets, we will do anything we can to save her. We were lucky we had an emergency credit card available but if we hadn't...

fking hell thats bad!

I would want to get hold of the person who did it, then shoot them in the chest, not with an air rifle but with something proper.

there are s everywhere, no matter where you go, there will still be s.

hope you cat pulls through, I'm guessing she is in the vets at the moment, has she had an op to remove the pellet?

Sorry to hear of your cats injuries.

Perhaps the cat wandered into a nearby garden and took a dump one too many times, the house owner then took exception to this and shot your cat, in excusable actions but it does happen.

The only thing that could be worse is if your cat got run over and therefore never came home or if a dog attacked and killed it (again because the cat wandered into the dogs garden).

Hope it makes a full recovery.

She is there now but there is a rant for another day. Safe to say they are on the receiving end of an anrgy email. 3 seperate visits, 2 seperate vets and a set of vet nurses failed to spot the puncture wound. It was when i took her down this morning to the vet again and the practice manager took a look at her that he spotted the puncture wound. She had puss in her lungs and nearly coded while they were draining them and xraying her. She is currently in an Oxygen tent in recovery. Aparently it was touch and go but they hope she is going to make a good recovery with IV antibiotics and regular checkups!

That makes me feel quite ill. What sort of scumbag could do such a thing?

Hope she gets better soon.

Unbelievable that someone could do that to a defenseless animal. I hope she recovers soon and that you find whoever did this.

I hope your cat gets better. Some people should not be allowed to own guns.

I have known game keepers to shoot cats though

Game keepers have also been known to trap and poison raptors and illegally snare foxes and badgers, so shooting pets would be unlikely to be beyond the pale for some of them. I don't think the air rifle is the preferred weapon for most, though.

frown How terrible.

Is it worth getting the police involved as using an air rifle in that manner is very illegal. I have a few rifles myself but know that the law would come down pretty heavy on me if a pellet was found on another's property let alone shooting a pet.

We have a bad fox problem here but they are protected under the law, isn't it the same for cats and other pets.

Bastids. Some people are just nasty gits.

Hope puss pulls through. I know where the rifle needs to be inserted if found.

It's very likely one of your neighbours - either someone who hates cats in his garden and has a sociopathic lack of empathy for their owners or else a stupid kid. Might be worth popping a few notes through doors explaining what has happened, that you've involved the police (you should do this) and that people should be wary. If it is a kid with a gun, he might find himself frog-marched to the police station by his dad. Unlikely these days, obviously, but still.

There are still some responsible parents out there. We had a case here recently where a cat was shot through the head with a crossbow bolt. After much publicity (cat was operated on and recovered by the way) it turned out a young lad had done it. His mum found out and turned him over to the authorities. Good on her.

Finger crossed for your cat OP.
