Last had a cat (sooty RIP) 35 years ago and not since. Mrs Liverpool has said I can have one but which one.
Are their breeds that will ruin the furniture less and mount less and be affectionate more?

Also blue is my favorite color - are blueys friendly?

Sooo excited!

Will look at rescue cats first, and mount = moult damn iPad.

Don't want a huge pussy but a fluffy one with a bit if brain - my Sooty used to talk to me like I was another cat - we actually had some sort of conversations.

Keep it coming

IMHO it's either:

1) Expensive pedigree
2) Value moggy from rescue centre

Some breeds also have rescue centres, eg Siamese.

But nature is important as well as looks; I'd rather have a friendly cat than a pretty one that took my fingers off.

I suppose a good compromise would be a tabby. The labrador of cats.

I've always had cats, some affectionate and smart, some phsycotic and stupid. Best cat I ever had had a pure Burmese mother and local tomcat father. So a mix of exotic and streetwise.

She was petite and looked like an expensive pedigree, but could hold her own in a scrap with the local cat mafia and bring down a pigeon 3 times her size.

Rescue - always.

Go to a shelter, or look online. One will choose you, I promise. cloud9

Every time I look at Bob and see how happy and healthy he is (now) I go all gooey inside.

Erm, yeah.

If you want affectionate, then Burmese. Ours loves to try and get under the duvet with you, chats (but not excessively), and just loves cuddles and lappage.

On our own experience whatever you get make sure you have Insurance. Minnie is a talkative and feisty bugger and has cost upwards of £2500 this year and is missing a leg.

We tried rehoming a beautiful Bengal from the CPL but as we already had another moggy & a dog it was a big no, Bengals don't do house sharing apparently!
