I'm finally getting another cat but I am allergic, any products or top tips that migfht help?

Sorry, was at work so didn't have time to elaborate. The cat is chosen, as my son's flatmate has decided he doesn't want a cat any more, so we are getting Dexter next week.

I've heard that there are some products (Allerpet??) that you can spray the cat with, also I'm not letting him upstairs and will try to hoover more often. I could wash him regularly but that's probably a bit of a challenge even with a very mild tempered cat like Dexy.

Piriton for you (or other anti histamine) and live with Dexter
