What's up with my cat?

My 2yr old cat loves his food but over past few days he has changed.
When I go to the kitchen he's under my feet, meowing at me to feed him, so I put his wet food down and all he does it stare at it and then walk off.
If I put the food bowl on work surface and place him next to it, he'll eat some of it but then if I put them both back on floor he walks off.
Should I be worried, he's off to Cattery in a few weeks and I'm scared he won't eat whilst he's there.

Some cats will go through some strange eating moods but they rarely last more than a few days. In ours we call it fussiness but we don't try get them to eat by giving treats or changing their diet and they go back to normal soon enough.
If longer then is he\she losing weight? How's the fur? Eyes? Still drinking water? Any changes here or if it's been going on longer than say a week it's probably worth getting them checked out by the vet as it would look like he\she is hungry but can't eat, if he\she has stopped drinking as well then don't hang about and go to the vet ASAP.
Sorry read post properly now. At the moment if all is well otherwise (drinking\toileting (thanks forgot that) then I would consider the vets, but may well be okay for another day or two)

He was only at vets last week getting his jabs and teeth were fine. Not sure about toilet habit as he goes outside, still off hunting. Bottom line, get him down the vets!
Doesn't seem to be losing weight and is still drinking. He seems fine in himself, still scrounging for treats and jumping up at table to see what leftovers there are on plates.
Will see how he goes over next 24 hours and then get him to vets, might change vet though as I don't like this one.
Vet ck could be sensible esp if you're going away but it almost sounds as though something frightened him whilst he was eating so now doesn't feel comfortable eating on the floor.

I get one unwanted cat visitor but my cats seem fine with it, other cats are told to get lost but one gets away with it. He seems to be happy to eat dry food from floor but not wet food, wonder if it's because I tell him off for stealing the other cats food.

If not, now might be the time - he may be bored with getting the same old stuff every day.....
If he's not losing weight then it's not as bad. If he's still demanding treats etc (does he eat stuff if it's offered from your plate?)
Try him on a bit of tuna, suspect he'll wolf it down then...
