A short while ago my best mate (well, either him or his wife) started a Facebook page for their Rabbit. I know this because I received a friend request from said Rabbit. Facepalm. Today I've discovered that a Cat belonging to another of my friends has a Facebook page too. Are they strange or am I out of touch? Oh, and before everyone starts, I use Facebook to provide a useful feed of information from companies I'm interested in, I don't really care for the narcissistic 'social' side of it.

Must be a new trend then as a couple of people we know have done this.

People really need to get out more. I don't understand this obsession with Facebook, or the desire to create fictional profiles for pets.

If people have nothing else to do with their lives than to tell others that their dog just farted, or that their guinea pig is 4 today, they really need to re-evaluate their place on earth, as it would seem that their existence could probably be utilised better by someone else in genuine need.

My dogs got a Facebook page, its only a bit of fun, and also so that the breeder can see new photo's of her.

As for your comment "If people have nothing else to do with their lives than to tell others that their dog just farted, or that their guinea pig is 4 today, they really need to re-evaluate their place on earth, as it would seem that their existence could probably be utilised better by someone else in genuine need."

Surely the same could be said of people who make thousands of posts to strangers on this website?????

You can get these profiles deleted, Facebook doesn't like them. There's a link somewhere to report animal or fake profiles. It may make me a bit of a , but having received two friend requests from the pets of real friends, I reported them and had them deleted. fk 'em.

I see your point, but it isn't really relevant to the subject of Facebook is it. If I logged onto PH every day to start a number of random posts telling people what I'm up to every 5 minutes, constantly 'checking in' everywhere I've been in 24 hours and telling everyone how hilarious it was that my hamster just ate a small seed, then I could understand your point.

Being a member of a motoring forum and choosing to spend half your day telling others of the ins and outs of your day to day life are very different. The difference being that I don't reply to every single post in sight on PH, but only to those I have interest in, or start a post when I have something I feel is to be shared or I am looking for help from fellow members. I don't attention we by telling people what I get up to every day because I think people want to know.

If I did that, I'd delete me.

My dogs profile is mainly photographs, there are a lot of our friends' kids that have asked to see photo's of our dog, so why not. It's easy to do. I by no means make ridiculous comments on my dogs behalf! Oh just to correct you on something, to log on to PH to make 'Random' posts is pretty much impossible. Unless of course you have no control over your thought process and you are part computerised random number generator. This craze of using the word random for any circumstance is real pet hate of mine. (No pun intended)

What an odd name for a rabbit, they don't even have palms.

Why not just put pictures on your dog on your own profile, in it's own album?

Ignore him Zollar, he's only getting pissy because Benji from next door hasn't replied to his friend request yet. Benji is a fun-loving kinda dog though.
