Our next door neighbours moved out last week and the house is now empty. They had a cat flap on their conservatory which was set to come-in only and one of our cats got stuck in there over the weekend.
He couldn't get out of the conservatory and unfortunately in this heat he didn't make it. RIP Boris.

What makes me saddest is that he would have heard us calling for him. Without climbing over a wall, we couldn't see him in the conservatory.

If anyone leaves a house empty, please lock the cat flap before you leave to avoid death through feline misadventure.

Oh that is absolutely horrible cry RIP Boris
I must admit ours regards everyone elses cat flap as his right to enter, but this would worry me.

Not much help now, but we have some tracking devices attached to our cats.
Not sure of the policy on posting links so I'll just say they're branded as loc8tor. They're not cheap, but I only need to find 24 more lost collars before they pay for themselves wink
Worth it for the peace of mind IMO.
Sorry for the loss of your cat, really sad. RIP Boris.

Oh how tragic. I'm so sorry - for you and Boris - my first Tom cat was a Boris too, and I loved him to bits. Obviously Boris's are good cats

That's a horrible thing to hear. Poor Boris. I hope some estate agents here take note of this, I'm sure we have a few.

That's terrible, I hope you have put your foot through the flap to stop it from happening to some one else's cat

The cat flap is now secured. The estate agents who are selling it were mortified as they have a moving out check list which includes locking cat/dog flaps.
