We seem to have aquired a pigeon, it's sitting on the window ledge outside our bedroom. Any ideas what to do? It's got a tag with a number 7 on toosmile he looks quite friendly, not scared of us.

A) let it in and see if it's got any post for us?

B) let it in, feed it up and cook it in a pie?

C) give it some bread/ dog food ( all we have I can think a bird would eat)

D) leave it, it's probably just a lazy racing pigeon

My ideas were A and B, the wifes were C and D smile

See if he has any post obviously. Even Hogwarts have been hit by the recession.

I would probably keep him 'til the morning and try and feed him, then let him out tomorrow.

(I know nothing about pigeons, though)

www.homingpigeons.co.uk/straypigeons. You need to capture it and give the letters and numbers to these people or there maybe an address/phone number of owner under its wing who you can contact yourself. It maybe just resting for a few hours.

Sounds like a homer that's resting especially if its been through the storms about today. Give it some water and some bird seed if you have any. If its still there in the morning, grab it and give the above a call.

ETA: that's assuming it doesn't look damaged/hurt/sick.

cheers guys.

it looked fine really. put out some bread (no idea what they eat but the mrs said sugarpuffs might not be great for it!). also he had no post for me, so left him on the window ledge, think he flew off at first light.

ah well, he was a good pet whilst we had him!
