Dog Walking In St Albans - and car choice?
Discussion
SWMBO before we moved down to St Albans had her own dog walking and pet sitting business in Derbyshire, that was going alright, but since moving down she has gone back to working full time, but has now decided to go back to the dog walking, as it is something she loves.
She still has valid insurance (liability, key holder etc), has all her Police checks done and signed off so thats all good, but this is were the pistonheads can help!
If she is going to do it we need to replace her current car (Alfa 156 Sportwagon) with something a bit more dog friendly, i.e. something that can take more than one bloody dog!
Now I am currently torn between two thoughts, have about 10K to spend

Pick up, well always liked trucks, but plenty of room for dog cages in the back, great for taking the bikes out and going camping, although quite high for getting dogs in and out (ramp?)

Van, again plenty or room for dog cages, great for camping and bunging the bikes in the back.
Basically looking for peoples thoughts, the misses and I are happy driving around in the van and using it as regular transport, running costs on both are a hell of a lot cheaper than the Alfa, just torn which way to go. The converted T5's are fairly nice places to be, used to have a Vito pile of st, and did thousands of miles to and from karting races, plus the misses loves driving a van.
cheers for all the help

The height issue you mention is a big factor - the pickup option isn't going to work unless you want to do lots of lifting.
Just looking at cars a couple of inches makes a big difference. Our oldie can just about manage the work pool 75 tourer, but my S124 Mercedes is that bit too tall.
Vans are generally popular with folks that have a number of dogs. I've seen some mega cage set-ups.
The only other way forward is people carrier type stuff - a local lady always has Fiat's - but there is the Kangoo type stuff. These vehicles have the extra height missing from estate's - the 75 being a poor example (but the diesel is free !)
The other thing is internal cleaning - the van must win this one.
