This is our neighbour's cat sleeping on our shed roof this afternoon.

I have an old picture somewhere of one of our cats (not still with us I'm afraid) sleeping on a pile of wire coat hangers, I'll have to see if I can find it.

Another cat used to sleep on the radiator when we left washing on it to dry, she would stay on it until she would pretty well cooked, then virtually fall off, then lie panting on the carpet until she had cooled down enough, before going back for another session.

One of mine sleeps is the most awkward positions possible - they really can't be comfy, but she manages it - this includes laying on a set of tiles - well, half of her - her back end, was on the tiles, whilst her head was down on the worktop, with one arm over the edge too....

In clumps of long, wet grass in the garden. If it's really raining, the cat will move to next to the fence for a little shelter but doesn't seem to care about the wet.

It looks like a cat but doesn't behave like one always...

It is a game they play with themselves to while away the time, mine used to sleep on the table on top of books or anything else that was in the place she wanted to occupy.
In the winter she would retreat to the depths of the airing cupboard where she would sleep on a thin shelf, if the shelf was full she would wrap herself around the hot water cylider.

I once came home to find she had inserted herself in the sleeve of a woolly jumper and had her head stuck out the hand end. in the summer the point of the shed roof was the place to be.

If the other cat chose a ridiculous location then that is where she would want to be and if other cat moved then you would see a grey flash as she jumped into the contested territory.

I had her from a kitten when I was 16 until last year when I was 36, she chose me by climbing my leg and getting into my jacket pocket and refusing to get out, she was clever, cunning, loving, very vocal and I miss her.

I remember being in a pet shop in Exeter years ago, where they had one of those old fashioned cash registers like this:

There was a cat draped over the top of it and deeply asleep, looking for all the world as if it had found an exquisitely comfortable spot to sleep. It's a feline gift!

Both my cats like to sleep in different rooms, on the floor by the radiators (which we haven't had to have on for months)

Both have beds, access to the sofa and our bed, but this is what they choose....

Bonnie (22 yr old) has found a new favourite place to crash, in the hallway just outside our bedroom, directly in the way when we are getting ready in the morning. As she is an old lady we just step over her. hehe
