We had three cats, all black. Two were brothers. When we go away, the other one gets really stressed, and sts everywhere, so we put her into a cattery. Our neighbour feeds the other two though.
In April, we were away, and one of the brothers disappeared. We did all the usual things: searched, knocked on doors and so on, but got nothing. If we'd found a body or something, we could have got some closure, but we didn't. So he became The Cat We Don't Talk About.
Last night I got a phone call from a man who lives about three miles away, to say that he found the cat.
Alive and well! Yay!
They took him to the vets (only about five hundred yards from our house) to see if he was chipped - he is, of course - and the vets told him the cat's name (Ridley), and our name, address and telephone number.
So at 9pm last night, we were reunited. He's lost a lot of weight, but is generally fit and well, but very tired (full MOT booked at the vets this afternoon), and seems really quite sad. Particularly yesterday - he's looking a bit perkier today.
We speculate that he's has a rough couple of months, stealing food and living rough, so he's generally feeling insecure. We'll work on that over the next few weeks and try to get him back to his old self.
You hear stories of cats making their way home from the other side of the country. How come ours is so bloody stupid he can't make it back three miles in eight weeks!?

Relief.
So that'll be 3 for the cattery next time you're away
Tell me about it! We've already booked the two 'remianing' cats in for when we're away next, in a couple of weeks. Now we have to cram another one in. The two were going to share a room; I think we can get all three in, which means we only have to pay for the extra food, not lodging. So that'll be 3 for the cattery next time you're away
The cattery is so good, that when we go to collect Hershey, she never wants to come home!
