Smartie is an almost one year old Staffy/Lab Cross - so called indestructible toys can sometimes last less than 30 seconds. The longer lasting toys tend to be made from tightly woven rope, but these make a real mess when he finishes them off.

A Kong stuff-a-ball lasted a while, but when he found a weak point, it fell to pieces.

Any ideas on stopping the grass dying where he pees?

You need a site like this one smile

http://www.caninecrib.com/dog/articles/dog-toys.as...

There are other websites to look at, just google indestructible toys for dogs (or similar)

Kongs do a range in black which are even tougher than the red ones. Always buy a kong that is almost bigger than the dogs open mouth.

Unusual for male dogs to cause grass to die, it's usually females that do that.

Also soak area he's peed on with water to dilute the acidity and urea that causes the burn on the grass

start training him to pee on a concrete area? Best thing I ever did! just a power hose over it every few days and a lovely green lawn!

as for toys, our GSD was also like this and i spent a fortune on these so called indestructable toys!! I used to collect up hubbys odd/old socks and tie them in nots to make my own style rag toy!! it actually lasted for a good while and didnt make a mess like the rope ones that she used to shred! not the greatest looking toy in the world granted, but really strong, kept her amused and lasted!! laugh

no such thing as indestructable dog toy, use toys as a joint game between you and the dog when you decide to finish the game take the toy away till next play time.
even tough toys will have a disclaimer on them saying not indestructable/use under supervision.
as for pee stains get some "dog rocks" these are available from petstores and really do work.

Some of these toys are boredom relief toys aswell as just normal toys, for when you are not there to play with them. There are some very good tough toys out there but they cost! It's true though because it's guaranteed that every toy can be destroyed but a dog out there smile

A splash of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in their food (horse type places probably sell it) neutralises it in side them and is good for them.
We added it for a month or two, and all is well since. (i.e. only needed to do a month or two and it stabilised out naturally)
or a little bit of tomato puree in with the food.

After throwing away about 20 'indestructable' toys we found the 'Tuffys' range which are available on that link. Now have a collection of eels, sharks, lobsters, frogs and other animals.... they have lasted 6 months of sustained attack so far in the jaws of the dark destroyer.

Highly recommended

ETA: Still wouldn't leave them alone with those or any other toys.
