Well, my one.

I have no idea what she thinks she is, but she doesn't like fish and she doesn't like cat milk.... Or cheese, or cream. And she will turn her nose up at bacon too (but not the fat...).

Anyone else got a moggie that just says no to "cat treats"..

The more cats you meet the more you realise just how 'odd' they are in their tastes. I don't think there is one item of 'traditional' cat type food all of my 7 eat - someone doesn't do chicken, someone else fish - except tuna water! - someone else cheese... the oddest is my big soft gingerboy who mugs me for Doritos!!

We have one which we've had since it was about 18 months - the wife fusses over her so much that she only eats certain things.

The other we 'rescued' from life as a stray on an industrial estate where it appears to have had rather a tough life - vet reckons she's 14 years old.

She'll eat anything and even after she's had her dinner will be eyeing up our plates in case there are any scraps left. Even eats bits of carrot, cheese etc.

Our cat will not eat any other cat meat than Whiska's chicken in jelly... I have tried numerous other brands and flavor but he just aint having it!! rolleyes he also loves tinned tuna in brine, but not too keen on other fish! and he also turns his nose up at cat milk! lol, he is rather partial to whiskas cat teats but has a cupboard that all the rejected treats sit in and then get donated to less fussy family members cat!

fussy sod laugh

of course, a four foot long, 40-mph-swimming, 100 kilo deep ocean fish is the natural prey of the common moggy

My cat doesn't seem to eat fish either!! Bought some fish from the shop the other day for dinner and saw that they had fish mix for pies. I bought £1 worth which was enought for 2 meals. Boiled it up, mashed it but the cat won't eat it. It will eat a couple of flakes off my hand though. Strange thing is it will eat 'fish' Felix puches all day long.

My cat is the opposite - will eat cat food as long as it is fish or chicken, but turns her nose up at beef, duck, rabbit, lamb etc. She goes a bit mad if you open a tin of tuna! She is also very fussy about cat treats too - have tried her on all sorts, but the only one she will eat are whiskers temptations.

You mention not liking cheese, I've always understood that cats are lactose intolerant, mine certainly is, he'll puke within minutes of nibbling a piece of cheese. Cat milk will occasionally make him sick too.

He gets bored easily too, no more than 2 weeks tops of any type of the regular varieties before he starts turning his nose up. I'm forever on the lookout for new things to feed him.

He's also gone off the garden-variety dry food like Whiskas and Go-Cat now, insisting on the likes of Purina and Royal-Canin.

In short, he is a fussy little git.

practically all mammals become lactose intolerant as they reach adulthood, only SOME humans (mainly of european ancestry) have the mutation that allows us to keep drinking milk

that said, cheese doesn't have anywhere near the amount of lactose that milk does

Mine only eat chicken. Luckily sainsburys does a huge bag of frozen chicken for £3.50 which lasts about a week, cheaper than any decent catfood and probably vastly better too.

We are looking into organic food for the cat now though - a bit worried about the c**p that's in food (saying that I don't eat or use non-organic/free range meat for us or the animals either for the same reasons)...

Must say she does like those Whiskas treats though. Well, so far, she has a thing about eating a food for a week or three then deciding she doesn't like it anymore...

Eating fish isn't a problem for Rufus, it's the other things you have to watch out for. Opened the front door this morning to this:

Very interesting stuff.

Anyone able to say whether the amount of taurine and other minerals in chicken would be equal or higher than the amount you'd get in regular cat food? I know they need taurine to maintain their eyesight and doing the same for my cat might be an option as I'd rather feed him stuff like this than pouches with 4% meat.
