Cheers chaps, Its good to hear your stories and that it gets easier, I kind of knew it but wasnt feeling it yet.

I jut got some lunch, soup and toast, and though I knew I shouldnt Rambo always got a bit if each piece, yesterday I started blubbing a bit as I made it as before I used to impersonate him "So, we having our lunch now Jacko ?", sort of meant to be ironic as it wasnt his lunch but every day, when the wife wasnt there to tell me off, he got a few bits of toast, a crisp or two or a bit of my sandwich.

Even on his last day he bloody barked at me eating cereal as I was not sharing the cheeky sod, didnt normally do that unless someone walked in with a takeaway, when the scrounging went to fever pitch.

But today, just made my toast, it was easier but now will have to be careful as not got my small, hairy PT demanding I got out for a walk daily and am getting all my toast.

I did throw a crisp on his grave yesterday, sounds weird because it is, but I had to do it one more time, went past an hour or so later and it had gone which made me chuckle, something obviously enjoyed it biggrin

Will post if we do get another, wont be for a while, and may not happen but hope springs eternal.

I have been lucky in my life and not lost that many friends and family, but this is as bad as anything so far, think its because they are so close, all the time, like a sidekick, like part of you.
I was having a minor rant the other day and decided to call it lunchtime lunchtime and I'd go for a power stomp to walk it off. Went to the cupboard by the back door and pulled Misty's collar and lead out and was about to call her...

That was a moment.

First few days are the worst bit, but I still wish I had my friend back, and my friends before her most days.

I think Bella is deep in thought.
About what, I'm not sure.

There is nothing quite like the loss of a dog to turn a chap into a blubbing mess, well me anyway, just go with it as it does help, think bottling stuff like this is not good and as men we are expected to be stoic, rough and all that bks, fk that express yourself as you need it’s not the fifties. There is no award for being a hard bd.

Yeah, did call him the “StinkBridge” on occasion as well, saw it down the side of banger racers and seemed appropriate, as he could get a bit shoddy, but as we all know we all quite a bit of dog smell when we have dogs, not dirty, stinking hound, just that smell they have, like wood smoke and four star fumes it will never be a perfume but it has some appeal to us.

Went for a bike ride to clear my head earlier, 20 miles in the rain, did help getting out of the house, saw a chap I know I haven’t seen in ages which was nice, helps to keep busy and not dwell too much, but a bit.

Trying to get some piece and quiet but someone has found one of their annoying toys which I’ve hidden.

So she’s found a tennis ball which is now having all of the fluff removed.

What breed is Seth?
I thought he was a border collie when I first saw your pics, hence scale comments apply for me too, but unless they do miniature Border Colies......
My guess is "canis photogenicus". smile
hehe He does love the camera. And works it at every opportunity. (There may be an upcoming TV appearance after some recent filming, but I’ll mention it nearer the time. If it’s not on the cutting room floor already)

Seth is a mix breed. His Mum Havanese/Pomeranian, his Father Maltese/Bichon Frise. He’s non-moulting/Hypoallergenic which makes him perfect for coming to work.

On the subject of which he celebrates his first birthday on Monday and we are having a paw-ty with the care home residents.

I’ve been busy making paw-ty bags for the residents and visitors as well as some for any dogs that call in to see their loved ones.

I made some jewellery

They have stickers, paw print ink stamps, note books and dog themed hair accessories. Visitors have company air fresheners, trolley tokens, balloons plus some of the above. I’ve made over 50. Still have sweets and cake to add in on Sunday. FGS don’t tell my grown up kids rofl

We're home and settled. A way more complicated operation than anticipated as her veins aren't great and getting blood flow was really hard. But it's done and hoping the recovery is easier than the operation. Poor lass has been through the mill. Thankyou for all the good wishes, it's been a long few days x

J4CKO Sorry to hear of your best mate's passing. It's taken me six months after mine passed to put her paw prints and fur capsules in a frame with my favourite pictures. I feel guilty fostering other dogs, knowing she hated all dogs without exception!!! You did what was right for him, not for you and that's the best thing any of us as pet owners can do x

Thanks guys, means a lot.

Went for a walk tonight round one of our old routes, was surprisingly ok, was dreading it but only a couple of fleeting moments of sadness.

Still very hard, but little signs that the worst is hopefully past.

Wasn’t quite the same with our old dog, same age but she had been blind and deaf for a long time, she had got withdrawn as you would expect but Rambo was himself to the day he died which makes it so painful, he just didn’t seem ready to go, just his little heart wasn’t working properly any more.

Anyway, will stop derailing the thread now, feel a bit guilty about that but he was so awesome.

Don't be daft, your contributions are as welcome as everyone else's. We've all gone through it, and some of us have needed to share it too. I know I did, and found the subsequent replies of great comfort (even if they did set me off again!).

Please, post as much and as often as you want or need to.

A wonderful resilient and highly huggable dog heading for much better times in the right hands.
