Further to my frustration with the vets, I went in and demanded answers to questions floating around in my head.

Records pulled up and they'd had the wrong x-ray against Peter, showing a cat in a far far worse way, which was put to sleep. We could've lost Peter to this. I didn't even get an apology.
Shocking. Sounds like you remained far more composed than I think I would have been able to. I do hope you take it further as you may not have been the first person this has happened to (or will happen to, given how much they don't seem bothered).

A referral/complaint to a professional body should prompt some internal action I'd hope.

She turned 3 yesterday. Bengalmaniac. This week it's been 3 pigeons, 1 squirrel and 1 rat in the back garden.

Who needs an air rifle?

Get a Bengal and the females will wipe all vermin out, once they get the taste for the hunt.

Where are you based?

I truly have a soft spot for the ragged, feral and elderly cats.

I'd have a houseful.

Although, given he’s stone deaf these days, we wait for the smell to get to him. But then; speed.

Scrapyard cats. Mother was killed. The two I have survived somehow to 5 weeks before they were found.

I figure they’re indestructible. The vets bills I have suggest otherwise.

She’s got dementia. He’s got cancer, hence the ear work. We don’t know if it’s spread. There’s little point in knowing, there’s nothing to be done.

They spend the day in the sun and the nights on the beanbag. Seems like a plan.
