RIP Charlie (on the right).

Almost 19 but kidney disease finally took him. We're so utterly gutted. Alfie, his twin brother, is still with us and thankfully doesn't have kidney disease. But it's horribly having an empty spot where Charlie always sat. We've cried ourselves raw. God, losing pets is so tough.

19 is a fabulous age for a cat… he lived a long and happy life!

What do you call a fat man in a bush?

Determined.

Our big soft ball of fluff Peter (was feral, totally wild) was hit on the road today. No vital organs damaged or broken ribs, but thought to have pelvis or hind leg issues. Very very difficult to reach him as he was very frightened.

We'll find out tomorrow after x-ray what has happened.

Sad to hear about your loss and also about the injured feral. It's so tough when they break your heart.

Agree with both parts of this.

They can break your heart

We always had cats as a family when we were kids and I have "cat-sat" for various friends over the years but have never actually had one of my own. I was made aware of a feral litter that had been born in a shed locally and the house owner had managed to home 3 of the 4 kittens with one left that he was probably going to take to the nearest shelter.

I saw the picture below and decided I couldn't let that happen so on Friday she's going to be my first cat (the one with the black nose).

She's booked in at the vet on Monday and I'm now furiously ordering litter, food etc in advance. Wish me luck!

No luck needed, sounds like you're a natural, will be fine. Reminds me of the two we looked after briefly before rehoming.

In theory, she - Mopsy - is a Persian. Her fella - Onyx - is the black Persian and their offspring is Cloud, the dirty brown/off-white trouble maker.
His Royal Gingerness is a Exotic Shorthair, so a Persian/American Shorthair cross, hence the facial similarity.
Do you have to groom them much? One of the reasons we chose HRG is because he is basically a lazy man's Persian, and can just about take care of himself smile

Mixed emotions here. Our local vets just gave up on Peter, said his pelvis was detached from his spine, would never be fixed and he needs put to sleep.

I asked for a second opinion and it was said he could be referred to a specialist a couple of hours away but it would cost thousands to sort him - I jumped at the chance, money means nothing to me compared to that soft ball of fluff, especially with him being so feral and wild before, learning to trust and love us.

We took him down there and the first thing the consultant said was "he's nowhere near as bad as we thought looking at his x-ray, you can collect him at the weekend and he'll be walking again in a couple of days".

I was so muddled with my emotions as it was a mix of incredible anger mixed with overwhelming relief.

I shall keep you all posted.

Blimey, roller coaster of emotions. Thank goodness for the positive outcome.

I'm really not into cats, however there is a gorgeous cat called Picasso that hangs around outside my local shops every day. He just sits on the wall letting all the passers by stroke him. He gets posted about quite a lot on a local Facebook group. I always approach him and give him a stroke..

That’s fantastic news, so happy for you. It’s quite scary that your vet got it so very wrong. I’m sure many owners would have taken the vets word on the matter and acted on their advice.
