Thanks for all your comments, it helps.

Not my 1st cat but the most loving. We only got him as our 2 females (old and young) were always fighting. We were after a alpha male ideally ginger tomcat, what we got was a calico almost femanine chunky boy we called Bentley. He did calm things down.

Since then we lost lulu, 13 years old to kidney failure coped OK with this as she wasn't a bad age and there was a reason. With Bentley there are so many questions I will never get answered. Why was he so stressed to go out? Why did I let him out? Why did he make the 250 meter + trip out of our relatively safe back garden to the front road?(not main road)

It's even causing issues at home as my partner is begging me to be strong for our daughters sake, but I can't be. She thinks he was hit by a car which, in my eyes puts the blame on me.

Now all settled into her new home and after a few days spent mostly hiding under the bed, walking around like nothing ever happened. Decided to put a bird feeder up to give her something to watch, but hung it too close to the wall and the wood pigeons emptied it in short order. Now they're just tormenting her.

I just want to groom you Doggie Boy. I promise not to do to you, what I've done to all the squirrels and rattys in the last week...

Thanks, things are slight better. I can look at pictures of him without becoming a mess of tears.

My daughter has a photo of him as a kitten printed on a cushion, she got it as a gift quite a while ago, but seeing her cuddle that still breaks me. But that's her comfort / memory so I can't take it away.

Still questioning the whys, where's and how's. I know I'll get no answers so why can't I forget about it. What sticks in my mind is he was so vocal and agitated about going out. This is a cat who is only ever vocal over food or when he is in pain or discomfort, which is why I think he had internal issues - or maybe I'm using that to get over the guilt of letting him out??

Our remaining cat seems fine about it, almost milking the extra attention. Getting another cat has been mentioned by my other half and daughter but we are going to get some work on house done before considering it.

Sorry to hear about recent losses. Always a difficult time.

Sami, who we got to fill the gap left by Nova, our previous Birman, has discovered that heat rises.

After losing my two maine coons, and a stray old cat and my lovely Chihuahua last year, I felt ready for a rescue kitten.

It's lovely to see new kitties joining the families.

We are slowly getting used to having a one cat household after losing Shoshi end January. We are looking forward to getting another Bengal who will be rehomed with us. She happens to be our Vani's mother (and Shoshi's granny) who will be retiring soon.

I don’t think questioning yourself will help. You probably already know that. It is just the way our brain is wired.

Please be gentle to yourself and the rest of your family

What that doesn’t show is his ridiculous tail. It’s almost as big and fluffy as his body. Brilliant for picking up wet leaves and slugs to then bring in and leave on my lap…

Waffle becomes part vampire in the summer… has a morning chill with me while I have my coffee… afterwards, he retires to the back of the house where it’s lovely and cool. Then he’s out most of the night.

Living his best life.

What breed is the puss in the box? He has a similar look our Little Ginger Monster, who is also quite an expert on forms of packaging.
And who is also the neediest/soppiest cat we've ever had...

Oh hai!

I may look cute and I am for most of the time, but around 3 in the morning I turn into Satan and start trying to eat my dad's feet.

And elbows.

And anything else I can find....

In theory, she - Mopsy - is a Persian. Her fella - Onyx - is the black Persian and their offspring is Cloud, the dirty brown/off-white trouble maker.
