I reckon it probably tries to curl up on mum's lap when at home.

Having lost my Beloved Chester (black and white Basset...ish) a few months ago, the hole he left was horrible and HUGE.I decided that Bella (the black Lab - now 2 years old)and I were fine on our own. Everything was in balance, and she had settled down to being an 'only child'. But...

I couldn't resist looking at adverts for Basset puppies for sale.

Fred (yes, that really is his name!) stood out in the few adverts, quite local(ish) not ridiculously over-priced, but, I really didn't want another dog/puppy, regardless of how cute they are or how much I missed Chester. But, the advert carried on running and the number of pups was reducing... 6, 4 then just 2. I decided that if the last one remaining was a black-and-white boy, I'd make the call. On Sunday, there was one puppy left, a black and white boy...

Meet Fred (or Freddie) who is the calmest, most laid-back puppy I've ever known. His 14 weeks old and cute as a button.

I was definitely in two minds about this, especially as it was a breed I said I didn’t want, but as is the norm my wife completely ignored me and has gone and got this little chap. He’s a cockerpoo and, unbeknown to us until today, he was born on the day we lost Archie - May 13th (and yes, I blubbed when I found out). We’re off to France for a family holiday in about five or six weeks’ time and we collect him when we come back home.

So, everyone, please say hello to the newest edition to our family and meet Stanley biggrin

I am so pleased for you both. Definitely fate. I'm looking forward to the photos when Stanley joins you.

Happy New Home Freddie. You've definitely fallen on your (big) paws.

Oh C, so sorry to read that. Its awful saying that final goodbye, even if you know its for the best.

Sounds flippant, but in time you will smile again when she comes into your mind.

So I met Stanley for the first time tonight - he’s a proper bruiser compared to his brothers and sisters (he’s from a litter of six, plus there was mum and dad there too) and isn’t shy about elbowing them out the way when it’s time for a feed. Six weeks to go…

You’ll be wearing a ‘I Love My Cockapoo’ T-shirt within days of him arriving biggrin

laugh I wouldn't be surprised if my wife and daughter were wearing them when we pick him up.

Neville has a new stick. Said stick is almost as big as him, but whilst he is in love with this stick he's not obsessing over real ones.

Ok, I need Basset hound now. Mandy is still being lovely and good with the eye regime. Specialist next Wednesday for the final word on if the eye can be saved. She’s gained 3kg in weight with me and still got a couple more to add. Luckily her tum has been ok with the gradual gain. We think we have a potential home for her as well with a retired lady who is lonely since her last dog passed away.

I love old doggies. It's so sad when they're not around any more frown

Our lovely lady has been in her element today. Garden is being dug up and landscaped so between the new smells and three builders to scratch her bum she is one very happy dog indeed.

She's 9 now, vet really pleased with her at the recent MOT and I reckon we've a good few more years left in her yet. She's a lovely little thing and is brilliant with our two kids. Hopefully the garden won't take long as I've particularly enjoyed watching her sunbathe in the garden lately, she seems very content with life.

Have you heard the one about the 3 legged dog?

Mrs Will has left us unattended for a few days so poor financial decision was made and we bought a drone. I’m calling it a Father’s Day present from Summer

Wishing I’d got one years ago now

Love those photos of you and Summer in the Sumset. We have drones but don’t use them nearly enough. We’re off to the coast this weekend for beach walks so might get other half to charge some batteries up and pack them.

In the meantime Seth is guarding a Wild Orchid we found this morning. He’s very proud of it.

One of the care home residents told me it’s ’National bring your dog to work’ day today. Seth is proud to be at work with me every day.

Bath time..

Funny to think when he was younger he'd go crazy trying to climb out, now he just sits under the tap and lets us get on with it laugh

Freddie seems to be strangely engrossed in the football at the moment.

Bedtime, and he generally can’t settle unless some part of him is touching either me or my wife. We gave up and bought a bigger bed!
